Text Messages from Dead People

By Paul Bell

Overview

A very special one-off ghost story for Christmas, written and performed by Act284's Paul Voodini and Kiera Rhodes.

Join local paranormal expert and ghost hunter Danny Bobbins for a festive exploration of cursed objects and haunted relics! From the infamous crying boy painting to relics of Victorian seances, from a song about suicide banned by the BBC to a key to a door that no longer exists, from a hotel bell that summons a demonic bellboy to text messages from dead people, you'll hear and experience stories that terrified the nation and sent the tabloid newspapers into meltdown! All of this in the intimate (and supposedly haunted) Bishops' House, a wonderfully atmospheric Tudor building dating back to 1554!

But wait...

There's something not quite right here.

What was that noise behind you?

I'm sure I heard something.

Is there anybody there?

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Trigger warnings: themes surrounding death, suicide, and house fires. Remember, this is a ghost story!

Age guidance: Not recommended for the under 16's.

Venue info: Bishops’ House is located approximately two miles to the south of Sheffield city centre, by the top entrance to Meersbrook Park in Norton Lees. Long referred to as being on Norton Lees Lane, Bishops’ House actually lies at the junction of Lees Hall Ave and Lees Nook. If using a satnav please aim for Lees Hall Avenue, S8 9NA. There is usually car parking spaces by the top of the gates to Meersbrook Park, although on the night of the show these will probably be taken fairly quickly. However, the area is residential with ample roadside parking in the vicinity.

Important! Doors to the venue will open at 7.15pm for a 7.30pm start. Bishops' House is an authentic Tudor building, built in 1554. Therefore there is no heating. Please dress appropriately for the weather conditions! There is no bar or refreshment kiosk. If you will be wanting refreshments, please bring them with you. HOWEVER please refrain from munching away on noisy snacks during the show. Not only will this annoy your fellow guests and the performers, it will also annoy the spooks! There will be a short interval when you can munch to your heart's delight! There is a single unisex public toilet in the building.
