This workshop will be an introduction into stencil based screen printing onto textiles. You will develop simple surface pattern imagery and experiment with layering print and colour to create interesting textile samples. You will also be demonstrated how the photo emulsion screen printing method works and differs from use of blank screens and stencils.
What experience do I need?
The workshop is perfect for anyone new to the screen printing process or for those who may wish to refresh their skills and use the workshop facility.
What will I make?
You will design and make a selection of unique textile samples that utilise repetition, overprinting and colour blending.
Who is my tutor?
Your tutor will be Lyndon Wallace; a teacher and exhibiting printmaker with a fascination for all traditional print processes. His usual medium is screen printing and his main aesthetic style is geometric, often taking inspiration from theories and ideas grounded in science, nature and faith.
You can find Lyndon on instagram.
Do I need to bring anything?
Basic materials are provided for the class including small fabric samples, inks and the screen printing equipment needed. You are advised to bring some plain cotton along with you for further printing. It will also be possible to screen print on to cotton tote bags or t-shirts so you may bring these along too if you have them.
If I can't attend can I get a refund?
We will refund you in full if you cancel no later than 7 days before the workshop. For cancellations after this period there will be no refunds issued.
