Step into the vibrant world of Bargello, a retro needlecraft with roots in Italian tapestry tradition. In this beginner-friendly workshop, you'll create your own colourful Bargello sample using bold geometric patterns — perfect as a bookmark or a decorative stitched piece to admire.
Guided by experienced tutor Caroline, you’ll learn the fundamentals of this striking long-stitch embroidery technique. Using a classic chevron pattern as your starting point, you'll discover how to build your design, finish the edges, and even add a handmade tassel for a final flourish. Alternative patterns will also be available for those who want to explore different styles.
What You’ll Learn:
- How to stitch tapestry wool onto plastic canvas using the Bargello technique
- How to follow and build geometric patterns (starting with the chevron design)
- How to finish your piece with over-stitching and attach a tassel
What's Included:
- 100% wool tapestry yarn (please note this material will be used throughout the session)
- Plastic canvas, tapestry needles, and all other tools
- A variety of colourful yarns and pattern options
- Step-by-step instruction in a relaxed, creative setting
No previous needlework experience is required — just bring your curiosity and love of colour.
