Join us for a creative, hands-on workshop where you’ll explore the traditional Proggy (also known as Clippy) rag rug technique to make your own unique textile motif. This mindful and sustainable craft is rooted in reusing and repurposing — breathing new life into fabrics that might otherwise go to waste.
Using a wooden proggy tool, you’ll learn how to push fabric clippings through a reclaimed hessian backing to create a beautiful, tactile design that you can take home and display as a framed artwork or wall hanging.
What to Expect:
- Step-by-step guidance in the traditional proggy technique
- Use of a wooden proggy tool and reclaimed hessian backing
- Opportunity to create a motif (such as a heart or abstract design)
- A relaxed and welcoming creative space
Materials:
- Fabric scraps provided (you're also encouraged to bring your own unwanted or leftover fabrics — any kind will do!)
- Hessian backing fabric reclaimed from a local Leicestershire coffee roaster
- All tools supplied
This is a therapeutic and eco-friendly craft perfect for those looking to unwind while making something meaningful. Whether you're new to rag rug making or have dabbled before, this workshop is open to all levels.
Please note: The hessian fabric can produce fine airborne fibres during the process. If you are sensitive to this, we recommend wearing a mask during the session.
Come along, slow down, and enjoy a creative afternoon that’s as kind to the planet as it is to your wellbeing.
