Textile workshop - make a fabric 'Chinese Lantern'
Fri 15 September 2017, 10:30 – 16:00 BST
Enjoy creating one of the perfect sights of autumn in a new way. Spend the day learning from textile artist Meg Beable, and make your own unique piece of art, inspired by ‘Chinese Lanterns’ the popular garden plant that epitomises autumn.
All materials are provided and this relaxed, practical day should be a real treat for craft enthusiasts who want to try something new, or artists who want to create art using different media. We hovered between calling the class a textile workshop or a textile art class.
Begin by painting in watercolours on fabric, usually on calico, before building it up with different materials – threads beads, & silk, melting – even burning and slashing them. All additions on the painting are stitched, not glued. In a small class with just 8 people you will have plenty of opportunity to learn from Meg.
