Thaggheim is an event aimed at people who’ve wanted to play tabletop games like Warhammer, Trench Crusade, LoTR (and all the other dice rolling miniatures games) but had some kind of barrier to entry. Like: How much it costs, How much space you need, confidence in painting skill, people to play with etc. That all said, if you already know how to play TT games… You’re really welcome to come, bring your own stuff and play a game or two with a friend.
As the host of this event, Jaq is going to be showcasing the 1999 game Mordheim.
"Mordheim is a game about the dregs of a magical society looting a city that was destroyed by a magical comet. It was written at a time when the tabletop hobby was still young, and as a result it has a focus on being able to make and do everything yourself. The rules are a framework to create a narrative rather than being an ironclad set of strictly balanced rules. This lets games be kind of loose in comparison to other games and means that everything in the game has a lot of flavour to it. If that sounds interesting but you’ve never played Mordheim (or any other game of this type) you’re in luck, because I specifically would like to share this with you.I’d like to host a couple games of Mordheim throughout the day to introduce some people to the game’s rules. You won’t need to bring anything that you don’t want to bring.I’m also going to attempt to have a little crafting space set up for this, where I can share some tips on how to make stuff for the game that you can either take home or we can keep at the library to use at future events!"
If you’d like to join a discord channel that will have some info about mordheim here’s the link: https://discord.gg/Xek2zNTfwZ (You should also join it to share cool stuff and look for people to play games with ;) )
