Welcome to the Thalassaemia and Rare Inherited Anaemia Education Day 2025!

The Red Cell Network and South West Haemoglobinopathy Coordinating Centre are pleased to announce that we are holding the first South West Thalassaemia Education Day on Friday 19 September 2025. This event is aimed at all healthcare professionals (haematology consultants/registrars, CNS and other nurses, allied health professionals) who are interested in learning more about thalassaemia.

Join us for a day filled with learning and awareness about these important health topics. This in-person event will be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Bristol City Centre. Don't miss this opportunity to expand your understanding and connect with others. We look forward to seeing you there!

Is this event face to face?

Yes, this is a face to face event.

Can you join the event virutally?

No, this is a face to face event only. There is no option to join virtually.

What is the target audience?

The target audience is all healthcare professionals who look after patients with thalassaemia and rare inherited anaemias ie doctors, nurses, AHP etc.

Is it an all day event?

Yes, the event will start around 9am and finish around 5pm.

Will there be food and drink?

Yes, there will be food and drink. If you have any dietary requirements please do note them down when you register to attend the event.

Can I get to the event by public transport?

Yes, Bristol Temple Meads Train Station is less than 5 minutes walk away. Bristol Airport Flyer bus drop off/pick up stop directly outside of the hotel. 10 minutes’ walk from Bristol city centre entertainment including Cabot Circus and the Harbourside.

Is there parking if I come by car?

There is limited car parking and there is a charge (ca £7 per day). It's a first come first serve basis.

Is there wifi?

Yes, there is free wifi.

Can I buy more than 1 ticket?

No, each participant needs to register themselves.

Can I sign up using my private email address?

No, as this event is aimed at healthcare professionals only please sign up using your work (NHS) email address and state which Trust you are working for.

What if I signed up to attend the event but my plans change?

As there is limited space, please do get in touch with us if you have signed up to attend the event but are no longer able to do so. This way your ticket can be assigned to someone else.

Is there financial support to get to the event?

Yes, there is some support available. Please check with the red cell team if you would be eligible.
