Thames Hospice Open Water Swim in Bray Lake at the Hospice. Enter a 500m, 1km, 5km or 10km challenge either individually or as part of a relay team. This challenge is open to all swimmers whether you are a seasoned pro and can manage long distances or you have only swum in a pool before but always fancied dipping into open water.

Timings:

• 5km & 10km individual swim: 7am registration for 7.30am start

• 5km & 10km relay teams: 7.30am registration for 8am start

• 500m individual swim waves* start from 8.30am registration for 9am start

• 1km individual swim waves* start from 9am registration for 9.30am start

*you will be sent your wave in a email once you have signed up

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to fundraise?

We ask all participants to raise as much as possible and encourage those taking part to raise a minimum of £100 sponsorship. Details of how to set up a fundraising page will be sent in your confirmation email. There is also an option to make a donation when registering.

Do I need to have swum in Open Water before?

If you have not swum in open water before we strongly advise you try it out at least once before the day at a supervised facility. Bray Lake Waterports can offer a trial session for all participants of this event.

Do I need a tow float?

We highly recommend using a tow float and suggest only those who are experienced open water swimmers choose to swim without

Can children enter?

This is an over 18 swim event.

Can I bring friends and family along to spectate?

We welcome spectators but they must stay within the designated areas

Will you provide food and drink during the longer swims?

No, but there will be a floating pontoon for you to place any nutritional snacks or drinks you will need and you're welcome to invite supporters to help organise this for you. You will be provided with a hot drink afterwards and food will be available to buy

Is parking available?

There is a large carpark at Thames Hospice that is free to use
