Please email email@example.com
The categories and weigh-in times will be posted on our Facebook group https://www.facebook.com/BJJBOJJ/ and e-mailed to all entrants at least five days before the event.
Where we are unable to match competitors, refunds will be given.
Default Medals will not be awarded.
The competition format will be straight elimination.
The event will be run under the rules of The International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation (IBJJF). http://ibjjf.org/referees/rules
Under IBJJF rules, article 2.3.3 state the fight may be stopped:
“When the referee perceives that a hold in place may expose the athlete to serious physical injury.” This will be strictly enforced by the referees.
Article 7.1 of the IBJJF rules state, "The published guidelines of each individual championship shall overrule this general competition regulations book when need be"
Using Article 7.1, the following exceptions will apply.
Weigh-in will take place approximately 30 minutes - one-hour before the bracket start time, rather than weighing-in immediately before the match as per the IBJJF format.
If you fail to make weight we will attempt to place you in another category. However, if the next weight category is full, or has already started this may not be possible.
Please note: if you fail to make weight at IBJJF events (and many other BJJ events in the UK) you will be disqualified.
Age categories will be defined by the age the competitor is on the day of the event.
This event has a zero tolerance policy regarding inappropriate behavior by coaches, parents/guardians, spectators and competitors.
All in attendance must show some restraint when their students or team mates are fighting. There will be competitors and spectators of all ages at this event and we are here to set an example.
Any swearing, inappropriate gestures, violence (towards person or property) or berating the officials (regardless of any decisions they make) will not be tolerated.
If this happens, the referee/organiser has the right to disqualify that competitor, or to ask the person concerned to leave the area. If those concerned do not comply with the referee/organisers request the competitor will be disqualified from the event.
If a coach, parent or team mate encroaches onto the mat, or past any barriers that are in place, or man handles an official in any way, that person will be asked to leave the venue and the whole team may not be permitted to take any further part in the competition.
