11.45-12.15 Creativity and the end of the end of the world - Keynote Speaker: Charlie Waterhouse, of the Central Extinction Rebellion Art Group.
It’s the fastest-growing protest movement in the world, with hundreds of self-organising groups in 80 countries. In less than a year it has helped move the environmental crisis onto the front pages and into the mainstream. The UK Parliament has declared a climate crisis, committed to zero carbon and to Citizens’ Assemblies. But talk is cheap, and Extinction Rebellion has only just got going. Weeks before an internationally coordinated Rebellion that will see groups from New York to Melbourne simultaneously rise up, we welcome Charlie Waterhouse from the movement to explore the fundamental part art and creativity play in XR’s success.
12.15-12:45 – Anarcho-Craftivism - Carrie Reichardt, of The Treatment Rooms
Carrie is a well-known strident socio-political protester that gives voice to overlooked communities. Frequently playing second fiddle to raising awareness of important issues, infiltrating public spaces through her highly crafted and politicised artwork across the globe.
12.45-13:15 The Revolution Will Bring Fine Weather - Dominic McGill and Michael Collins, of Paris68redux
A creative presentation by Paris68Redux who started at the end of 2017 as a celebration of the work of The Atelier Populaire in Paris in May 1968. Dom and Michael felt that many of the posters from 1968 were still as relevant today,"fifty years and nothing has changed.''
