You are invited to join the Rt Hon Helen Grant MP (host), Gillian Walnes Perry MBE ( Co-Founder of the Anne Frank Trust and author of "The Legacy of Anne Frank" ) and Nic Careem (founder The Blue Sky Network) at a special event to mark the 20th anniversary of the United Nations signing of the Anne Frank International Declaration. The Declaration was created by the Anne Frank Trust UK to remember all children who died in wars and conflicts in the 20th century and to call on all of us to make the world free of prejudice and hatred in the 21st.

Date: 4 February 2019, Time: 19.00 - 21.00, guests will be notified location by email 24 hours before the event

FYI:

It is 20 years since the signing of the Anne Frank Declaration by His Excellency Kofi Annan, Secretary-General of the United Nations. The Declaration was written by Anne Frank House educator, Barry Van Driel. The Anne Frank Trust UK founder, Gillian Walnes Perry MBE, and the Trust's Political Advisor, Nic Careem, invited world leaders of the time to sign the Declaration and together organised signing ceremonies at the House of Commons, United Nations, Commonwealth Secretariat, and the European Parliament as well as civic authorities throughout the UK.

Nelson Mandela, Kofi Annan, leaders of the European Parliament and EU, Commonwealth Secretary General, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, President Bill Clinton and four British Prime Ministers were some of the great states people who signed the Declaration, which pledges the signatories to work towards bringing about a world free of hatred and bigotry.

In the 21 years since the House of Commons signing of the Declaration, many notable world figures have added their signatures to the international version of the Anne Frank Declaration - they include UNHCR Ambassador Dame Angelina Jolie and music legends Nile Rodgers and Peter Gabriel. Thousands of school children have also added their signatures to the online version of the Declaration.

Many of the politicians who have previously signed the Declaration and those who attended the UN and other signing ceremonies will be invited for 4th Feb Event.

As our event is only a few days after Holocaust Memorial Day 2019 (27 January), a one minute silence will take place at the start of the event. This will be followed by a reading of the Anne Frank Declaration and young people will be invited to read from the Diary of Anne Frank and Gillian Walnes's new book "The Legacy of Anne Frank".

This will be followed by an audience with Gillian Walnes Perry MBE, Co-founder and Hon Vice President of the Anne Frank Trust UK.
