About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 50 minutes

As cities strive to adapt to the rhythms of modern life, the concept of the 24-hour city has emerged as a paradigm for fostering connection, resilience, and economic vitality. This conversation between Cristina Mateo, Associate Dean at IE School of Architecture and Design, Architect and designer, Russell Potter is co-founder of SODA Studio, and Peter Murray, urbanist and founder of New London Architecture, will explore the challenges and opportunities of designing cities that never sleep.

The session will focus on how to create inclusive, multifunctional urban environments that cater to diverse populations and activities at all hours. Topics will include the role of technology in ensuring safety and accessibility, the importance of mixed-use spaces for fostering community, and strategies for balancing urban vibrancy with sustainability.

Drawing on global examples and their own expertise, the speakers will unpack how the 24-hour city can go beyond nightlife to redefine how people interact, work, and live, ultimately creating cities that are more equitable, engaging, and enduring.
