The Abbey 2017 Evening Public Lecture — Filming and Discussion of Godspeed
Event Information
Description
What happens when a city boy, with a pocket full of sermons, lands in a Scottish parish? This year, at the free Evening Public Lecture of The Abbey Summer School, we're excited to host a screening of the film Godspeed—the story of a pastor whose desire to change the world grinds to a halt in a Scottish parish. After the film, we'll be joined by the pastor — Rev. Matt Canlis — and a few other ministers who are continuing to try and live out this parish mentality in very different places here in Scotland for a Q&A around the themes that arise from the film. More than just for church leaders, though, this film—guided by Matt's story, and with reflections from the likes of Eugene Peterson, N. T. Wright, Alan Torrance, and Granny Wallace—sets all of us on a pilgrimage to being known in our own backyard.
