Event description

Description

This Forum will explore inclusive education and the ‘Accessible Curriculum’ in relation to visible and non-visible disabilities, from two perspectives:

1. Are students learning to develop digital products and services that are accessible by default?

  • Who are the users and what are their needs?
  • How can the content and delivery of digital /coding curriculum be improved?
  • The pedagogy of accessibility

2. Is our educational offer accessible?

  • What are the barriers to learning for disabled people?
  • How can we improve access to, and experience of, digital education?

The Forum will generate advice and case studies to inspire and support educators and employers who are new to this field, and want to improve the accessibility of their offer. It will be useful for:

  • Teachers, Lecturers & Education professionals
  • Learning Technologists
  • Disability Service managers
  • Designers and developers of educational products and services (Private & Public sector)

We invite community members to bring and share their own knowledge and experience, and support the creation of good practice case studies. Confirmed Forum contributors so far include:

This course/event is part of that work, and we want to know about the people attending so that we can find out whether what we are trying to achieve is having an impact.

Your personal data will be collected and stored by Manchester Metropolitan University in accordance with their data policy. As Manchester Metropolitan University are a member of the IoC, an element of your data will then be shared with us. All personal and identifying details will be removed before this data is shared so that all we get are statistics to show how we’re doing against our targets.

The data we collect from you as part of this project will be passed to the Office for Students to allow them to conduct further research and evaluation of the activities funded as part of the IoC project, including combining with data from similar work at other Universities and Colleges. These data may be linked to other data that they hold about you including prior, current or future educational records and records on earnings and employment.

Thankyou for your support.
