Event Details

Engineering a culture of constitutionalism: lessons from Somalia’s journey in constitution building

Speaker: Quman Akli

17 June 5pm, Investcorp Building, St Antony’s College, University of Oxford

Lecture followed by drinks reception and finger buffet. 

The speaker for the event will be Quman Akli. She was born in Somaliland and raised in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. An international public lawyer, she has extensive experience in justice sector reform in Somaliland and, more recently, has been supporting the constitution-making in Somalia. She is a research fellow at the Max Planck Foundation for International Peace and the Rule of Law in Heidelberg.


This will be followed by drinks and an informal buffet dinner at St Antony's. Places are limited so ensure you register for your ticket at Eventbrite.

The African Studies Centre, within the School of Interdisciplinary Area Studies, acts as a focal point for graduate level work and faculty research on Africa. Alongside vibrant doctoral programmes, the MSc in African Studies, inaugurated in 2006, is already recognised as Europe's most prestigious and successful training programme in its field.
