Description

** Join us for an evening of debates, games and drinks **

We’re living in an age where the media sells us opinions as facts, algorithms decide what we like, and fake news dominates our headlines. Millennials are particularly distrustful of the media, with only 12% of them claiming that they trust the press. The problem is serious, and likely to get worse so what can be done to address it?

'The Age of Fake: Can Young People Trust the Media?' will mark the start of a campaign that looks at the changing relationship between millennials, information, and technology. Kicking off with a panel discussion between students and journalists, it will be an opportunity to reflect on how millennials engage with information, and what role technology can play in making the media more transparent and accountable.

Happening at The University of Nottingham on Thursday 30th November, the event will also introduce YOOP - a new app that turns the way we engage with information on its head. At the event, participants will get a chance to subscribe to the beta app and get invited to use it before its public release.

The event is FREE, and there will be an opportunity to network afterwards.

Food and drinks will be provided.
