About this event

Science & Tech • Science

AI is on everyone's risk register. Many Boards are tackling it through a Technology Committee with HR looking at workforce planning in parallel. But few organisations have really understood the existential challenge that leaders face in a world of co-intelligence. As a species, we've never had a serious competitor before, and it's requiring us to re-think the world of work and the world of education, now that so much brainwork can be out-sourced to AI at a fraction of the cost. In the future, what will leaders need to focus on, both for their own leadership and for developing those who follow?

This breakfast briefing will start with a catch-up on some of the thresholds AI has already crossed, looking at what is distinctive about human leadership, before inviting you to discuss in this context what makes you a good leader and how you might nurture that in the leaders of the future.

The session will draw on Eve Poole's books Robot Souls and Leadersmithing, to help us develop some strategies for future-proofing both ourselves and our colleagues.

This event aims to explore the impact of AI on leadership and workforce planning, encouraging a re-think of work and education in this evolving context. Through discussions on the thresholds AI has crossed and its implications, participants will gain insights into what defines effective human leadership in the age of AI and the skills future leaders will need to thrive. The outcome will be the development of strategies to future-proof leadership and workforce capabilities, an understanding of how to nurture distinctive human leadership qualities, and practical suggestions for fostering harmonious co-intelligence between humans and AI.
