The Amazing Nina Simone - Additional Date

1h 50min | Documentary, Biography, Music

Director: Jeff Lieberman

Year: 2015

Trailer: https://youtu.be/3DvxpUMXDyQ

The story of one of America's overlooked musical geniuses, finally brought to light. Director Jeff Lieberman brings audiences on Nina's journey from the segregated South, through the worlds of classical music, jazz joints and international concert halls. Navigating through the twists and turns of the 1960s fight for racial equality, the film delves deep into Nina's artistry, answering long-held questions behind Nina's most beloved songs, bold style, controversial statements and the reason she left America.

The Women in Activism Film Festival, co-presented by Black History Studies and the Bernie Grant Arts Centre, is a programme of screenings to highlight the variety of work, experiences and excellence of black women around the world and through history. The screenings will focus on four women over four weeks featuring a mixture of feature films and documentaries. We will incorporate presentations and facilitate engaging post film discussions with audience members.

Due to overwhelming demand we are hosting this third chance screening of The Amazing Nina Simone.
