This year’s annual West End tour will look at major changes to the area starting at the luxurious Peninsula Hotel (Hopkins Architects) at Hyde Park Corner and ending up at the Strand and Aldwych.
We’ll see the Cleveland Clinic retrofit (PLP Architecture), hear about 'Future Victoria' a 20-year vision for the Victoria Station area involving London Heritage Quarter, Network Rail, Westminster, GLA and TfL. The Grosvenor Estate will describe their plans for Buckingham Palace Road and Grosvenor Gardens. Other highlights include LandSec’s 30 High (Buckley Gray Yeoman (BGY)), a radical retrofit of the old Portland House, Landsec and Bentall Green Oak’s 105 Victoria Street (KPF and Henning Larson), the Government Property Agency’s plans for the Whitehall Campus, changes along the Strand and Helical’s plans for Brettenham House (BGY) on the Duchy of Lancaster estate.
We’ll also be looking at ground floor use, highlighting hotels, theatres and night time economy.
The ride is organised in conjunction with London Heritage Quarter which unites the Victoria, Westminster, Whitehall and Northbank BIDs.
