About this Event
Speakers David Griffiths, Jane Harrison and Olaf Bayer will discuss aspects of the research carried out by The Archaeology of East Oxford project into the landscape and settlement of the East Oxford, from prehistory to the medieval period, where significant new evidence was discovered, and existing data re-evaluated.
The Archaeology of East Oxford project was a lottery funded initiative run from Continuing Education which began in 2010, and reached its culmination this year with the publication of the project monograph. A (free) open access download is available via the ADS: https://doi.org/10.5284/1081257 The project involved many individuals connected to Kellogg, together with over 600 local residents. Supported by a programme of volunteer training, it undertook fieldwork (test pits, geophysics and excavations), coupled with historical and archive research.
