The Art of a Good Plot
Event Information
About this Event
We're offering this popular workshop with Joanna Courtney again due to high demand.
Most budding writers come to their work with ideas for characters, for settings and perhaps for a core hook – an inciting incident that has sparked their imagination and that they burn to write about. That’s wonderful, but what is needed next is a plot to provide the bones on which to place all that glorious flesh. A strong plot, in any genre and length of fiction, is the spine of the piece and it’s vital that the writer nails it. This online workshop, led by a widely published local novelist who writes both historical fiction as Joanna Courtney and contemporary fiction as Anna Stuart and Jo Wilde, will give you practical, market-focused tips to help you do just that. Covering both short stories and novels, it will take you through the nuts and bolts of both writing and editing a well-plotted story that will hook readers and, therefore, publishers.
