Increasingly and across a variety settings arts psychotherapists are being asked to take part in a range of assessments. From generic mental health assessments, risk assessments or assessing patient suitability for specific treatment programmes, the art of balancing patient engagement with the assessment task at hand requires highly developed and specialised skills.
This one-day training aims to develop participant’s skills in managing the assessment process and setting with special attention paid to developing the collaborative process between patient and clinician and the role the arts can play in this.
The morning will consist of presentations on assessment tasks and models and aims to expand participant’s knowledge on a range of mental health assessments in community settings. Breakaway workshops in the afternoon will address significant process issues and support participants in developing skills in working colloboratively with clients in gathering information and developing a shared formulation and understanding of the relevant issues. There will be workshops for both adult and child settings.
