Event description

Description

Nothing is ever truly broken – that’s the philosophy behind Kintsugi, the ancient Japanese art of repairing broken pottery using shimmering veins of lacquer mixed with gold, silver or other pigments. Far from trying to hide damage, Kintsugi emphasizes breaks and cracks as an important and valuable part of the object’s history.

Join us for this 2.5 hour workshop with artist/facilitator Michael Crossan (MFA), and learn the fundamentals of this enjoyable and meditative art form. Using photographs and ceramics participants will come away with their own unique Kintsugi object, made stronger and more beautiful through its cracks and flaws, a tangible reminder of resilience, continuity, and transformation.

No prior experience or art skills required. All materials are included in the cost.
