The Art of New Business is coming to Bournemouth
The inimitable Matt Desmier: Silicon Beach producer, Meetdraw butcher and ThinkCreateDo founder has told us loads of great things about the creative scene on the South Coast. Honestly, Matt's told us the scene in Bournemouth is comparable to any of the major UK hubs and from what we've heard, we see no reason not to believe him. So, following uber-successful outings in London and Manchester, we thought where better to take TAONB next!
Come and join us in RedWeb's Loading Bar on the evening of 14th November for a rare opportunity to gain insight and inspiration on how to win new business from a globally renowned speakers, client-side marketers and new business experts.
The Art of New Business represents 'challenger thinking' in the field of agency new business. We believe new business is an art, not a numbers game.

Negotiation. The very word has it;s roots in the meaning for discomfort (neg = not, otium = ease or leisure). And perhaps many of us feel a little discomforted at the thought of negotiating. By it's very nature, negotiating involves disagreeing with others – which in itself sounds upsetting to some. However, approached professionally, negotiating can have an extremely positive effect on our business and professional respect/status
The professional negotiator is a calm, assertive and considered communicator. They are aware of the impact of their own behaviour – and aware of the ‘Type’ of person with whom they are negotiating.
Ultimately, this is about ‘RELATIONOMICS’ – translating business relationships into TANGIBLE value!
We all know about the power of relationships and word of mouth, but why is it that we build great relationships with some people, but not with others? What can we do about it, and more importantly, how can we build better relationships with more people, and therefore win more business? How can we make sure that the client we really want to work with, wants to work with us too?
Andy Edwards heads ‘Nine 5 Three’ Ltd based in Bournemouth, offering Training, Coaching, Consulting and Professional Speaking. Having studied Marketing and lectured on the CIM Marketing Diploma, Andy further qualified in Behavioural Psychology and has a Diploma in Coaching.
Andy runs training, speaking, personal development and coaching-based events in the UK, Europe USA and the Middle East. These focus on Client Relationships, Team Relationships and Self Relationship (Motivation).
Anyone who has to pitch ideas as part of their job; whether that's to a client as part of the client-services team, the board of your agency as a member of the management team, or as part of an agency creative or new business team will know how important it is, and how difficult it is, to engage an audience.
Whilst you won't usually be going for several laughs a minute, the range of communication tools stand-ups use are totally adaptable and applicable to a corporate and business environment to enhance your message and its delivery, as well as giving you increased confidence.
Our trainer Chris Head has established himself as one of the UK's leading comedy coaches and has fifteen years experience as a director of live comedy. His unique training programme of stand-up communication tools applies comedians' techniques in corporate and business contexts.
Clients have included Channel 4, Google, BNP Paribas and advertising agencies Lida and BBH. His coaching style is analytical, clear, warm and inspiring – and highly practical.
Duncan Cook, MD 3 Sided Cube
Duncan graduated from Bournemouth University with a degree in 3D Design and worked his way up from software developer through to development director. Armed with experience in both development and project management, the next logical step was to start his own company and in 2009 3 SIDED CUBE was born. The company has enjoyed rapid growth by adhering to a clear and unrelenting strategy that focuses intently on their core offer. This has paid dividends, leading to work with clients such as Boots, the British Red Cross, the RNLI and the American Red Cross. It has also garnered them a string of illustrious awards too.
Duncan runs the show on a day to day basis, leading the team as they work on bigger and more exciting projects. Despite all his success, Duncan is yet to master the art of making a decent cup of tea or coffee; the team forgive him because it's such a rare occurrence and he "tries really hard."

When & Where
The Art of New Business
The Art of New Business is a collaborative network of like-minded individuals set up by Karla Morales-Lee and Sarah Bradley. Our focus is on finding new ways of winning business, and giving support and advice to each other. We run events in London and Manchester for new business executives, managers and directors working in the creative sector. For each event we select speakers who can inspire our network to think differently about what they do and how to do it. We want to lead the search for ‘a better way’. That means better people, better processes, better tools and better results. Bringing in new business for your agency can often be a lonely, high pressured job, so this network has been set up to support and inspire those of you facing daily pressure to bring in new business, often in silo from the rest of their organisation.
