About this event
The Art of Noticing Talk & Art of The Inhale Meditation
Welcome to Memento Vivere, an exhibition by Outsider Artist SLART, presented by Gabriel Fine Arts at the Crypt Gallery.
Set within this remarkable crypt - a space once shaped by silence and remembrance, the exhibition offers a rare opportunity to slow down and reflect on our shared fate: death. And from that reflection, to return to life with fresh eyes. The exhibition invites us to notice what we usually rush past - to pause, breathe and reconnect with the often forgotten beauty of being alive. It is a space for stillness, optimism and quiet presence.
SLART collaborates with Meditation and Wellness Guide Amanda McGregor, who will be offering a gentle talk and guided meditation within the gallery space. Drawing on themes of presence and appreciation found in SLART's work, the session explores how art can become a tool for meditation and the concept of meditation beyond stillness, silence and sitting cross-legged. Amanda will lead a guided Breath Awareness practice that uses art as an anchor and an alternative way of connecting with self.
Through breath appreciation and visual focus, the audience will be invited to rest into the artwork, using it as an anchor for presence. This is a practice of mindful seeing, noticing and being.
About your host - Amanda McGregor:
Amanda is a Certified Meditation Guide, Wellness Educator, Facialist, Retreat Host & Creator of The S.O.M.A Method - a practice that combines meditation with mindfulness, scent, conscious movement, journaling (with the body) and chakra alignment to bring the body into balance with the mind and the soul. She supports women, businesses and organisations in cultivating wellness practices that are doable and sustainable. Amanda's approach is rooted in simplicity, offering short, impactful practices that meet people where they are - especially those who are busy, neurodiverse, or seeking alternative ways to practice wellness. Amanda's work has opened celebratory events with meditation, been trusted to speak, deliver workshops and be a panelist by organisations, wellness spaces and private clients, such as The Amos Bursary, The London House of Wellbeing (where she's guided meditations at Hampton Court Palace), Oru Wellness, Salsa Furia, and more - with outstanding feedback. She's also delivered impactful sessions for local authorities and charities such as Time and Talents, bringing mindful, embodied practices into community spaces.
