Event description

Description

Thomas Sowell, born in North Carolina in 1930, is an economist and prolific author of more than 40 books which have been widely anthologized. Recognised as one of the twentieth century's preeminent thinkers, Sowell's has produced a wide-ranging contribution to political economy and socio-cultural discourse. Sowell’s writing is characterised by its clarity and accessibility, and its usefulness in debunking popular myths, remaining consistent and uncompromising.

In 2016, Sowell announced his retirement from writing, sharing some of his photographic journals publicly, hinting at a pledge to pursue new interests.

Beyond his distinguished career as an economist, Sowell has produced a photographic collection of images that range from iconic landscapes to tender family moments. Known for his withdrawal from public life, his photographs provide a rare glimpse and insight, that for many, will be a revelation.
