About this event

Food & Drink • Wine

There's an awful lot of science involved in the wine's journey from the vineyard to our glasses, but to make the wine sing: that calls for art, and our artist—the winemaker.Once a flurry of industrious pickers drop the grapes off at the winery, the winemaker is left with myriad decisions that they must tackle head-on with courage and vision. To taste a wine is to undertake a delicious investigation into this process. Do you detect the sweet spice of oak? A lick of cream from malolactic fermentation? The unmistakable bubblegum note of carbonic maceration?

These are all tools that the artist winemaker can employ in pursuit of their masterpiece. As it is so often the character of the winemaker that is the decisive factor in making a great wine, tonight we will taste wines from producers we consider to be masters of their craft, pulling back the curtain to consider their artistic choices and methods.

Our shop tastings start at 7.30pm and run for approximately one-and-a-half to two hours. We will taste 6-8 wines on a theme, and bread, cheese and charcuterie is provided to match with the wines. Due to the communal nature of the tasting, we are unable to cater for dietary requirements.
