This workshop is FREE for Lambeth educators and youth workers

(£150 contribution towards supply cover for Lambeth teachers)

You will:

· Meet other Lambeth-based artists and educators

· Gain new creative skills

· Build your creative confidence

· Explore identity and heritage

The session will start with a tour of Studio Voltaire’s newly refurbished studio and gallery. You will get to meet practising artists, see their studios, and find out more about Studio Voltaire’s school offer.

Lunch will be provided at the lovely Juliet’s Cafe so you can sit back, eat and chat with colleagues and artists.

Then, enjoy an afternoon of inspiring artist-led workshops!

The Artists

Holly Graham

Holly Graham works predominantly with print and audio, much of her work explores the ways memory and narrative shape collective history. Holly will also give a tour of her personal studio as part of the session.

Maya Campbell

Maya Campbell is a Brixton-based artist who creates evocative landscapes that explore dual heritage in a wide range of mediums.

Maya will lead you through an activity incorporating creative writing and smartphone photography to explore identity and heritage.

Tereza Araujo

Tereza Araujo’s `Image Theatre' ' practice emphasises the human body as a tool to represent feelings, ideas and relationships. Using theatre as a means of creative expression within marginalised communities.

Araujo’s image theatre technique will help us physically express our ideas.

Laurie Fitzgerald

Laurie Fitzgerald is a Visual Artist who uses acrylic paint, texture mediums and metallic pigments to explore connections between the human form, mental health and nature.

Laurie will take you on an exploration of colour and texture that you can recreate in your classroom.

Many of the activities you will experience have been tried and tested in Lambeth schools as part of ‘Present in the Moment!' Led by Lin Kam Arts, and aligning with Raising the Game and Somos Lambeth, students from three Lambeth secondary schools collaborated with a professional artist to produce new artworks and ideas for expressing their identities and heritage.

Throughout the CPD session, Linett Kamala, an experienced artist and educator will be on hand to offer ideas and support on developing activities to suit your students.

Access requirements

Studio Voltaire has step–free access throughout our gallery, participation and events spaces, cafe, shop and garden. There is a dropped curb outside of the main entrance of our building and the front door is opened by a push button.

Contribution towards supply cover costs
