The Artist’s Cut – Workshops for Artists
As part of Northern Film & Media and Channel 4’s The Artist’s Cut programme we are running a series of workshops aimed at developing artists’ understanding of film. The workshops will cover story development, film business, production techniques and working with actors. Please note that these workshops are aimed at artists rather than narrative filmmakers. Thanks to the support of our funders there is no charge for attendance but availability of places is limited.
The Art of Storytelling
In the first of these workshops, leading feature film script editor Kate Leys will be delivering a 3hr session on story development aimed at artists interested in developing a better understanding of narrative and storytelling. The session will cover a range of topics including dramatic structure, conflict and character development.
Kate Leys was formally head of development at FilmFour, where she was part of the small team commissioning and developing some of the UK's most successful feature films including Four Weddings and a Funeral, Trainspotting and The Full Monty. As head of development at Capitol Films she spotted Leaving Las Vegas and worked with talent including Roman Polanski. Kate speaks regularly at industry events and festivals.
