About The Artist's Way

The Artist's Way is a 12-week program for developing and unlocking our creativity. First published in 1992, it has helped millions of people - from writers and painters to business professionals - rediscover their creative spark. The book introduces tools designed to awaken our imagination, build confidence and quiet our inner critic. Whether you’re a lifelong artist or just curious about exploring creativity, The Artist’s Way offers a transformational path to self-discovery and expression.

About me

I’ve completed The Artist’s Way twice and often return to its wisdom. Our creative work isn’t about striving or forcing outcomes, it’s about allowing our ideas to flow with ease from. That’s the spirit of The Artist’s Way Bookclub: a space to show up for ourselves, to nurture creativity without pressure and to open up to something bigger—perhaps something we’ve never allowed ourselves to explore but we know we must.

I've completed The Artist's Way twice and often return to its wisdom. Our creative projects should flow with ease from within and this is what's at the heart of The Artist's Way Bookclub. This isn't a journey about 'completing' something or forcing external success (although, when we least try to force success, that's when the creative breakthroughs happen). It's about showing up for ourselves and opening up to something bigger, maybe something we've never opened up to before but know we must.

I'm a qualified Yoga Teacher, Health Coach, Reiki Healer and Cacao Ceremony Facilitator, and by day I work in Social Media and Marketing. You can find more about me here: www.dessieneva.com

Frequently asked questions

Do I need prior experience?

No! The Artist's Way is beginner friendly and no prior experience is needed. Experienced and new creatives alike benefit from the program.

What materials will I need?

All you need is a copy of the book and a notebook for the exercises. Please read the week's chapter before the call.

Can I join partway through the program?

Yes — you can book one-off sessions at any time. However, to get the full benefit, I recommend starting at Week 1 if possible.

Will the sessions be recorded?

No — to protect privacy and encourage openness, sessions won't be recorded.

Do I have to share with the group?

Not at all. Sharing is completely optional. You’re welcome to listen, reflect and take part in whatever way feels comfortable for you.

Who is this course suitable for?

Anyone who wants to explore or reconnect with their creativity — from writers, artists and musicians to people who don’t consider themselves 'creative' but want to explore and develop that side of themselves.

What can I expect from a session?

Each session lasts an hour and includes: an introduction to the week’s theme, a brief check-in on the previous week, group discussion of the chapter, optional space to share reflections on the exercises, and guidance for the week ahead.
