About this Event

Certified B Corporations are a new kind of business that balances purpose and profit. They are legally required to consider the impact of their decisions on their workers, customers, suppliers, community, and the environment.

The Future Economy Network is happy to announce this evening will be sponsored by network members Double Retail and co-hosted with network members Triodos Bank to talk about companies and their B-Corp Journey. We will be joined by B Corp Certification, Rubber Republic and network members Double Retail and Triodos Bank to speak at this event.

James Ghaffari, Director, B Corp Certification

James will introduce the B Corp movement, why they exist and what they are trying to achieve. He will take a look at the B Corp community, which businesses have become B Corps and how they are growing in the UK. James will also run through what to expect during the certification process and how to become a B Corp.

Matt Tipping, Founder, Double Retail

Do you believe in building a ‘better business’?

Matt Tipping, Founder of Double Retail, discusses what building a better business means to him and his colleagues and why they chose to start the B Lab Impact Assessment in 2019.

His session will open a thought provoking discussion on the subject of our responsibility to our employees, society, and the planet. This will be a practical guide that provides insight into how to start re-imagining your business as a ‘force for good’ using Double’s ongoing business development as an example.

Double Retail are a group of designers and project managers helping clients responsibly design physical branded environments, transforming their own business so that they can transform an industry.

Triodos Bank will discuss why they decided to become a B Corp, and explain their journey to certification. They will explain why and how sustainability is fully integrated into their business – something that is important to the whole B Corp community.

In addition, Triodos plan to explore the value of certification – both for them and in their work with other organisations. They often use forms of certification to help them evidence that organisations meet their criteria for lending, and to enable them to demonstrate impact. They will highlight some of their customers who are also B Corps.

They will share their favourite experiences to date from the B Corp movement, and finish by offering some words of advice to businesses who are at the start of their B Corp journey.

You can check out their article on what it means to be a B Corp here.

Matt Golding, Creative Director of Rubber Republic will speak on "Becoming a B-Corp. Why we became one, how it went, and what we’re doing next?"
