Life of I is a production created by actors with learning disabilities which shows difference in the way they would like you to see it. Each scene has been written and devised by our actors with the hope of breaking the stigmas and assumptions that are put upon them every day. The show highlights the intersectionality of life that people with learning disabilities experience, and the kinds of obstacles they overcome along the way. Expect laughter, tears, and shed loads of learning.

“I have a learning disability and… and what?”

The Baked Bean Charity provides outstanding services for people with learning disabilities. Based in Wandsworth, they offer a range of drama, musical theatre, singing, dance, DJing and Life Skills classes. Their touring drama group, Beans in Education, are made up of adults with learning disabilities who travel around the country creating shows in collaboration with NHS Trusts, universities and local councils.

Use of Haze
Reference to emotional abuse - This appears in a scene where a woman is talking about her experience of an arranged marriage. It is subtle, but not impossible to pick up on.
Use of offensive language - During a scene, the word 're*ard' is projected on the scene. This is for a brief moment.
Strong language - The actors sometimes throw the odd f**k-bomb into the mix when they are feeling passionate!
Imagery of violence/protests - During a scene about an actor's experience of being transgender, visuals of pride protests are projected. This is a video which is about 1 minute 30 seconds long. The video includes a mixture of upbeat and also sinister imagery, showing the juxtaposition of different countries experience of Pride.
