Event description

Description

Undertaking a part-time research degree presents many challenges to the researcher to balance research, work, and family commitments. The impact on the researcher can be significant and yet due to the multiplicity and complexity of situations the researcher may find themselves isolated in this experience. This one day conference is designed to provide a forum for sharing experiences and to provide professional development for part-time postgraduate researchers.

The conference will provide an opportunity to network with colleagues from diverse research areas across 3 London universities to receive valuable advice, support, and information.

The morning will focus on “Taking control of your PhD”, it will look at a range of concepts including wellbeing, resilience, and distance supervision. The afternoon will be on “Telling your story” and will provide media training, social media profile and use, and managing a complex CV.

This conference is free for part-time researchers from Imperial College London, University College London, and King's College London. Attendees can attend all day or just the morning or afternoon.
