Description

The Public Record Office of Northern Ireland (PRONI) is pleased to host the Ulster Society of Irish Historical Studies (USIHS) on 14 December 2017 at 6.30pm.

Dr Frances Nolan from the National Library of Ireland will talk about Arthur Reginald, 5th Baron De Freyne, an Anglo-Irish military officer of the British Army who had also served in the ranks in the United States Army. De Freyne disappeared for a time in the early 1900s, before reappearing as a soldier in the US Army. He served in the Philippines in the years after the Philippine-American war before returning home, serving as an officer in the British Army in World War One and dying in combat in 1917.
