FREE ADMISSION: RETIRING COLLECTION

Poets Robert Browning and Elizabeth Barrett were clandestinely married in St Marylebone in 1846. Join us for a day of events that celebrates their connection with the Parish. Join us in the crypt of the church for this screening The Barretts of Wimpole Street (1934 Film) in which Elizabeth Barrett is played by Norma Shearer Robert Browning by Fredric March. The film was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture and Shearer was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actree. Academy Award for Best Picture and Shearer was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress. The film is based on the 1930 play of the same title by Rudolf Besier, and was directed by Sydney Franklin.

The film will preceded by a short talk from the president of the Browning Society, and Rector of St Marylebone, The Revd Canon Stephen Evans.
