The event will commence at 1pm on Saturday 16 August 2025, meeting at Bantaskine Park which is the estate upon which the battle was fought.

What to expect?

Led by Roddy Tulloch, Trustee with the Battle of Falkirk Muir (1746), the event will comprise of an approximate 30 minute walk round the battlefield discussing some of the key events that unfolded on the 17 January 1746. We will be following a section of the battlefield walk path network.

After the walk, Roddy will show and describe some of the weapons from the Trusts collection that were used during the battle including some Scottish basket hilted swords, bayonets, dirks, muskets and pistols. This will last approximate 30 minute depending on questions.

Accessibility

Please note the walk will take place along a gravel path which will include gradual inclines. As this will all take place outside, dress appropriately for Scottish weather.

There is a cafe and toilets at Canada Wood which is located a 5 minute drive or 15 walk along from Bantaskine park. If you are wanting to eat inside the cafe then booking is reccommended.

There is a small car park located at Bantaskine Park.

Falkirk High is the closest train station. Bantaskine Park is located approx. 1 mile from the station. Please note we are not aware of buses on this route, so you would need to walk or organise trasnportation from the station.
