The BE Conference for Girls 2014
Description
The BE Conference is for girls aged 11-13 years old. It is a one day event for them to:
- learn more about friendships and how to use social media effectively with friends
- to recognise and love their uniqueness
- equip them with the tools to help them feel great about who they are and recognise themselves as future leaders.
There will be three workshops running simultaneously throughout the day and each girl will attend all three. Each workshop is being run by women who excel in their chosen field, have a brilliant rapport with young women and have lots to offer in terms of engaging, inspiring and empowering others.
The workshops are:
‘BE a leader’ run by Jane Bradley, the founder and director of For Books' Sake (www.forbookssake.net), an independent feminist charitable organisation that champions women writers, empowering women and girls to tell their stories and have their voices heard.
‘BE your own BFF’ run by Rachel Creeger, a playwright and theatre director. Her company Time2Shine Productions collaborates with schools, charities and community groups to develop new skills and devise original work using drama, film-making, music and creative writing.
‘BE a good friend’ run by Lana Selby, a drama teacher and dramatherapist who has worked in educational, mental health and forensic settings for over 20 years using drama, theatre skills and movement to address personal and social issues.
The final session of the day called BE body confident it is being run by Natasha Devon who is a writer, TV Pundit and founder of the Body Gossip Education Programme. She writes books, press articles and has a column in Cosmopolitan Magazine.
Award-winning entrepreneur Zoe Jackson is the headline speaker. Zoe set up the Living the Dream performing arts company when she was 16 years old. She now runs a school of performing arts, a professional dance company and a charity, the Dream Foundation. She will be giving an inspirational talk about how everyone should Live their Dreams and not let anything hold them back!
