The Beehive Phenomenon
Event Information
Description
The Innocents in association with Merge Festival Present, "The Beehive Phenomenon"
“Look at me, I am not man, a vultured corpse. An empty carrion, a vessel for some words to come through, I am not I, I am the summation of my orders!
And left right left right.”
How can men fight a war when they can’t find their own allies let alone enemies? How can they push forward when they don’t know what they are pushing for? Inspired by reports and the recollections of local residents, "The Beehive Phenomenon" attempts to tell the untold stories of The Great War’s African Front; the front where “nothing was achieve, nothing was gained.”
Discover 1918 Africa in the heart of 2014 London in this pop-up piece of secret theatre. ‘The Beehive Phenomenon’ looks to commemorate the centenary of the lives that were lost and focuses on the front’s absurdity and lack of progress. It acts as a swan song for the forgotten voices and faithfully attempts to recreate and dramatise them alongside imagined stories.
