This session will give enable participants to:

- understand the importance of emotional intelligence to their professional/personal life
- consider how organisations can devise strategies for enabling their staff to exercise effectual emotional intelligence as they build relationships and perform their duties
- understand how employees who demonstrated high levels of Emotional Intelligence can contribute to improved organisational performance.
- participate in a Question and Answer session


Speaker:

Maureen Salmon

Maureen is the founder director of Freshwaters Consultancy Limited, a leadership, organisational culture change and strategic development specialist. She has over fifteen years experience in senior executive and non-executive roles and currently works as adviser, facilitator and coach. Maureen works cross the public, private and non-profit sectors including: arts and culture, further and higher education, local government, health, social housing and criminal justice sectors an international arena. From 2008 to 2011, she was consultant and programme partner to the Cultural Leadership Programme and designed and delivered the Powerbrokers International Leadership placements in collaborated with organisations in, United States, China, Hong Kong, Singapore Brazil, India, Africa and the Caribbean.

Prior to establishing Freshwaters, Maureen championed and delivered a number of high profile professional development, employability and entrepreneurship projects. In recognition of her contribution to address social and economic she was one of the women awarded ‘Women of the Year’, Millennium Festival of Women’s Work; the European Federation of Black Women Business Owners’ Professional Award; in 2001, she was a finalist in the ‘European Union of Women of Achievement Award’

Maureen shares her experience through coaching, mentoring and speaking engagements. She is a visiting lecturer at the Errol Burrow Centre for Creative Imagination, University of the West Indies, and she has thought at the International School of Management in Senegal.
Maureen’s work is underpinned by her experience her with strengths-based and emotional intelligence leadership, work-based learning, equality and diversity.

Maureen has a Master of Arts in Arts Management from City University and Professional Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher and Professional Education from the University of London. She is an accredited Emotional Intelligence assessor Maureen is a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a member of Institute of Business Consulting and the Chartered Management Institute
