We are delighted to announce that More Than A Pub is coming to The Bevy, Brighton!

The Bevy:

If you are at the early stages of exploring setting up a community pub you'll receive a warm welcome at this inspiring, free event at The Bevy, Brighton where you'll hear more about the support available to new community pub businesses and groups exploring community ownership of their local pub.

Opened in December 2014, The Bevy was the first community run estate pub in the UK and is a fantastic example of a pub which is much more than a pub with activities taking place offering a wealth of opportunities to bring the community together and providing a welcoming space for everyone living locally.

With community lunches every day, children's cookery courses, weekly digital drop-in sessions, dementia-friendly creative sessions, a weekly running group followed by a time to chat at the pub afterwards, arts and crafts sessions, a 'bridge the gap' lunch for over 50's, there really is something for everyone.

The Event:

The agenda will be suitable for early stage groups and will include:

• An overview of the More Than A Pub programme and how your community can benefit.

• Inspiring stories, honest accounts, pub tour and Q&A with The Bevy, Brighton.

• Meet a Plunkett Foundation Advier who will talk you through setting up a community pub, the resources and support available.

• Networking

• Light refreshments

Travel bursaries of up to £120 per community available - please enquire prior to the event.

The More than a Pub Programme

The More than a Pub programme is fund by Power to Change, and led by the Plunkett Foundation in collaboration with Pub is the Hub, CAMRA, British Beer & Pub Association, Locality, CMS, KeyFund and Co-operative, Community Finance and MHCLG. The programme is able to offer support to communities in urban and rural localities across England to help them save their local pub through community ownership. Under the programme groups are able to access:

• Business support

• Bursaries

• Networking events

• Loan and grant finance

• Study visits
