The BHGS Challenge 2015, Oxford
Saturday, 20 June 2015 at 09:00 - Sunday, 21 June 2015 at 17:00 (BST)
The BHGS Challenge is moving to June !
The BHGS Challenge is our second largest tournament of the year, with a 5-round (or more in some periods) competition running over the weekend of 19/20/21st June. This year the event has flipped dates with Roll Call to allow us to offer onsite accommodation at Oxford Brookes University, however as of 11/6/15 we have now gone past the deadline when the University needs us to confirm room numbers, so any bookings after this date will need to organise your own accommodation in local hotels. There are of course also plenty of places nearby and we are also offering practice and friendly game facilities on Friday.
With just under a week to go we now have even numbers in most competitions and so this booking site now only shows tickets available in those periods where we are looking for players to even up numbers. If there are two of you wanting to enter a period shown as "full" please email us as we can fit you in!
The 2015 event will feature the following competitions
Aside from L'Art de la Guerre and Bolt Action all periods will be run in the traditional Challenge 5-games Swiss Chess format.
There will also be onsite catering available at this years BHGS Challenge throughout the two days of the competition.
Lunch will be a buffet, available from around 11.00 am both days with the cafeteria staying open until around 6.00pm on Saturday and 1.00pm Sunday.
Juniors (Under 18) get discounted entry by using the code BHGSUNDER18 when booking.
Where there is a theme specified we are working it as we speak, but these periods will definately be offered - full information will be published as soon as we have it.
If you do want to book early and find that we end up choosing a set of lists, special rules, table sizes or game durations you can't do or don't like, we will offer a full refund so please don't let that put you off booking in early!
The Small Print
In the event that there are insufficient players to make your chosen period viable (normally fewer than 6 players), you will be offered the option to switch to another period or a full refund.
GENERAL ENTRY CONDITIONS
Entry to the competition is regarded as acceptance of the BHGS’s competition rules (available on the BHGS website). Admission to any BHGS tournament is at the sole discretion of the organisers and their decision on all matters is final. If any entrant breaches these rules, causes disruption during the competition or causes or threatens to cause damage to property at the venue the BHGS’s representative on the day will be entitled in his or her absolute discretion to require that player to leave the competition and the venue immediately, without any refund.
Late submission of army lists is your best and most effective way to make the lives of the many kind, selfless and generous people who organise these events for you a real misery. Please therefore try to submit your list in good time. Deadline dates and list checkers will be published on the BHGS website and communicated to players. The BHGS reserve the right to inflict any one of a wide range of as yet unspecified grave, horrible, humiliating and potentially personally painful penalties on anyone who submits a late list. Especially if you are a repeat offender. You know who you are.... so be careful !
The British Historical Games Society was created in 1996 to act as a body to further the advancement of the historical wargaming hobby. The BHGS runs several national competitions, assists with organising many others and has international links with other national and international wargaming organisations.
We are here to serve the tournament wargaming community as a whole. We are a ruleset agnostic, non-profit organisation and any surpluses made from our activities are ploughed back into facilitating and encouraging tournament wargaming wherever and whenever we can.
We organise the Challenge, Roll Call, Britcon and the BHGS Doubles each year and support a number of other events. For more details visit our website at www.bhgs.org.uk
