Throughout 2017 we’ll be hosting a variety of talks, workshops and community events in Manchester, aimed at bi people* and drawing on the experiences of Bi activists across the UK. Our launch is open to all!
Our first talk is on Bi History from prominent bi activist Jen Yockney MBE. Jen has worked on giving bisexual communities support and a voice for the past twenty plus years. In 2016 she was the first ‘Mx’ to appear in the Queen’s Honour List and the first to receive an honour for Services to the Bisexual Community. Jen’s talk will be a fascinating insight into the forgotten history of bisexual communities.
The talk will be followed by ‘speed-mating’ – a great, informal opportunity to mingle and share a bit of your own histories with other bi people. Throughout the afternoon, there will also be chances to add your story to a Bi History video project being organised by our friends at Biphoria.
3:10-3:20pm: Welcome time!
3:20-4:00pm: 'Our Forgotten History', a talk on Bi History by Jen Yockney MBE
4:00-5:00pm: Time to enjoy the exhibition, mingle with attendees and take part in Biphoria's video project.
*The Bi Programme is open to bi people and their friends, partners, and family. We also welcome people who otherwise identify as ‘not straight and not gay’ such as pansexual, queer and fluid people as well as people questioning their sexual orientation. The launch event is open to all.
