Listening and understanding diverse and sometimes faith-based community views around what children should and shouldn't be exploring in relationships and sex education is one of the trickiest things for schools trying to achieve transparency and partnership with caregivers. The objective isn't consensus, but shared understanding.
We have a tried and tested methodology in our whole school Community Values Dialogue -- a circle based workshop facilitated neutrally by us, with parents/carers, practitioners, school leaders and children -- for everyone to feel heard about their values around RSHE. This is an important supplement to explaining the curriculum content to parents.
Primary schools in England will find this webinar valuable for addressing the guiding principles of the new RSHE Guidance 2025, specifically "engagement and transparency with parents".
Some local authorities in London have commisioned us to run these dialogues in their school. Available virtually and in-person. You can find out more and see pricing here: https://www.the-big-think.org/workshops
Participants have the opportunity of a free 2-week trial of The BIG 5 programme once they have attended the webinar. Find out more about the teacher-led programme: https://www.the-big-think.org/the-big-5
