Event description

Description

There is a renewed focus on the curriculum. Schools now need to be able to talk about their curriculum intent, its implementation and the impact on pupils' learning.

The curriculum session will be led by Mary Myatt and will consider how schools might respond to questions about the purpose and impact of their curriculum provision. It will focus on the role of vocabulary and conceptual development; learning without limits; the importance of making pupils feel clever; sensible approaches to assessment; and finally, mindful of workload - committing to fewer things in greater depth. A chance to renew and refresh the curriculum!

The assessment session will be led by Jamie Pembroke. He has 15 years’ experience working with education data, including 5 years in an LA school improvement team. He blogs regularly about data (sigplus.blogspot.co.uk), and writes the monthly Data Doctor column for the TES. Jamie's session will update you on the ever-shifting world of primary school accountability and data, including changes to progress measures and floor and coasting standards, the latest news on the proposed reception baseline, the timeline for the implementation of new measures, and Ofsted's current position on tracking pupil progress. We will then look at key aspects of ASP, IDSR and FFT before rounding off with a data Q&A.
