The Courtauld Institute of Art is thrilled to invite you to The Big Draw Festival, #DrawnToLife: Creativity and Wellbeing.

About this Event

This year the Research Forum will encourage people to get back to the drawing board by taking part in the world’s largest celebration of drawing, taking place in 26 countries, with 500,000 participants, and 1000+ events every year!

Join us on for a rare opportunity to see first hand, as well as close up, prints and drawings from The Courtauld’s collection. Hear from experts about the history of these works, see our Paper Conservation studio in action and get the chance to try your hand at creating your own drawings inspired directly by the theme #DrawnToLife and works housed by the Courtauld!

All activities are free but ticketed. Materials included. Book now!

WHAT'S ON?

Open Studios

Pop into the Prints and Drawings study room to see works from the Courtauld's collection close up. Experts will be on hand throughout to talk you through the processes and history of each work.

  • Saskia Rubin, 3 pm - 5 pm: Saskia, Courtauld PhD Student, will be presenting, painter, critic and member of the Bloomsbury Group, Roger Eliot Fry’s Sir Edward on his Deathbed, 1918.

Visit the conservation studio to see these works in a new light and better understand how they are preserved!

  • Kate Edmondson, 1 pm - 5 pm: Kate, Conservator of Works on Paper, will open her conservation studio for the duration of the afternoon and show drawing supports/materials related to the works shown in our Prints and Drawing rooms. You will have the chance to see these works under transmitted light.

Pop-up Drawing Workshops
