The Big Green Hike 2022
Event Information
About this event
Don your boots and get out the door - #TheBigGreenHike is here!
The Big Green Hike is a new, nationwide sponsored walk that anyone can take part in, no matter where they live.
You choose the route.
You choose the distance.
You choose the cause that's closest to your heart.
For the first time ever, many of Britain's best-loved nature and environmental charities are joining voices to encourage us all to walk on Sunday 15th May to raise money for the green stuff.
You can pick the environmental cause you want to fundraise for. Each of The Big Green Hike partner organisations have unique charitable objectives, but they share the same overall goal: to protect and restore our natural environment.
Which charities can I raise money for?
You can choose from any one of our founding charity partners to raise funds for:
- Amphibian and Reptile Conservation [arc-trust.org]
- Badger Trust [badgertrust.org.uk]
- Bat Conservation Trust [bats.org.uk]
- Beaver Trust [beavertrust.org]
- Borders Forest Trust [bordersforesttrust.org]
- British Hedgehog Preservation Society [britishhedgehogs.org.uk]

It couldn’t be easier to join in. All you need to do is:
Save the date: Pop Sunday 15th May in your diary, then ring up your friends, family, colleagues and neighbours and ask them to do the same!
Register FOR FREE: Sign up to the Big Green Hike via Eventbrite. You'll then receive an email containing instructions on how to set up your own Just Giving page for collecting donations.
Choose a route: Whether 1 mile, or 30, walking, running or skipping: the distance, format or location isn’t what matters. What really counts is you showing up for the environment, having fun outside, connecting to nature and other people, and raising some money for your favourite charity. Whether on your doorstep or further afield, choose a safe, well-marked route and be sure to follow the Countryside Code.
Share: Once you've set up your JustGiving page, share your unique URL with as many people as you can to collect donations for your chosen charity. Use #TheBigGreenHike in all of your social media posts. Make sure to tell as many people as you can on the lead up to the big day.
Walk: Get a good night’s sleep on Saturday 14th May and be up and ready for #TheBigGreenHike on Sunday 15th. Join hundreds of others around the UK as we step outside and show our love for the environment.
Snap: Don’t forget to shout about your walk and share photos on social media, share in your local community and network, and encourage people to donate to your chosen charity.
