What's a ceilidh ?

A ceilidh is a traditional Scottish social gathering that involves dancing to traditional Scottish music. No previous dance experience or skills are needed as our live band will teach you all the steps for you to celebrate in Scottish style!

About the event

The University of Glasgow School of Political and Social Sciences invites our School students and staff members to our first ceilidh in the Debates Chamber situated on the second floor of the Glasgow University Union.

Come celebrate the end of exams with our live band, and enjoy a free buffet* and free drinks.

The event is brought to you by the School’s Student Experience Forum (STEF) which aims to build a strong student-staff community, and supports our Sociology, Politics, Social & Public Policy, Economic & Social History and Central & East European student societies.

We aim to make this event as inclusive and accessible as possible. For any accessibility requests, please contact the organiser — alternatively, you can leave a comment when registering.

Tickets are FREE and are available on a first come, first served basis for SPS students and staff only- make sure to register to secure your booking.

If you are feeling unwell or are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, please do NOT attend the event and make sure to cancel your ticket.

We expect high demand for this event so we kindly ask attendees to cancel their ticket or contact the organiser if they can no longer attend. This will give others a chance to join and avoid unnecessary no-shows.

Dress Code: Kilts/Dresses/Suits - and remember your suitable shoes for dancing!
