Join us for a free talk about our display, ‘The Bigger Picture’, which explores the story behind George Elgar Hicks’s ‘Dividend Day at the Bank of England’ (1859). The painting, depicting a group of people inside one of the Bank's then-public offices, shows the diversity of people who came to the ‘Old Lady’ to do their usual business. Who were these people? What do their stories tell us about the history of the Bank?

Talks will take approximately 20 minutes, and will take place in the Museum Stock Office [see map below]. We recommend arriving 15 minutes before the talk is due to start, as there is airport-style security at the Museum’s entrance. The talks are completely free, but booking is required.
