Why and how was Venice born? Befitting such a unique place, the story of how it came to be is riddled with curiosities, intrigue and tragedy, having been ravaged by fires over the course of its history.
Starting at its birthplace, Rialto, we will get to view the city from its highest point. Rialto comes from 'rivo' and 'alto', meaning high canal. It marks the first part of the lagoon where people lived and so boasts the oldest church in town and the first bridge that spanned the Grand Canal, the Rialto Bridge. An iconic site, the Rialto Bridge has been a favourite for a millennia of foodies, having hosted the food market for more than 1,000 years.
The best views, some interesting tales and a lot of Venetian humour is in store for us on this tour!
