The Black Smock Band and Friends: Fundraiser for the Albert Kennedy Trust
Event Information
About this Event
Doors 7:30, music from 8pm.
The Black Smock Band, South London’s premier gay eco-socialist folk band (probably) plays host to an evening of music in aid of the Albert Kennedy Trust, which supports young LGBTQ+ people who are homeless or living in a hostile environment. The third AKT fundraiser the band has organised in the relaxed and friendly atmosphere of the Gallery Cafe in Bethnal Green, the evening promises a range of new and traditional folk music, some of it political, some of it from a queer perspective, some of it just good old foot-stompers.
Accompanied by his expressive guitar playing, Nick performs songs from the English folk tradition alongside his own songs and tunes which draw from history, myth and the richness of nature. His music is available at nsfolkmusic.bandcamp.com.
